Using Butterflies In Scrapbooking and Cards

Every scrapbooker experiences times when inspiration seems flat.  If that’s the case for you, try a rich source of inspiration through the wonderful publications in craft and book stores.

Here are few ideas for using a butterfly stamp set on your scrapbook pages or in your card making.  Use a butterfly shadow by stamping on scratch paper, then stamp on the scrapbooking paper without re-inking.  The result is a lighter image that still coordinates beautifully with matching card stock.  When assembling the page or card, coordinate ribbon and eyelets with matching colors.

For a birthday card or page, a bright birthday tag over a stickered or stamped strip of card stock in the center of the page or card creates a strong focal point.  Add visual interest by ensuring that the images overlap and continue off the edge.  This idea uses a two-step technique– you can use an outline image alone, the butterflies, or with the  corresponding solid image of perhaps flowers.

Try a page or card that uses a single set of images, (butterflies),  that are varying in sizes; the smaller images in a set can make wonderful embellishments.

Use an outline of a butterfly to accent the photo, and stamp a shadow of the butterfly to create the background.

Craft books will offer lots more great ideas for designing that next scrapbook  page or card when you fall in a rut and need new inspiration.
